Dentistry

 Some changes i could be made to my study programme...

I'm on my first year of dentistry student at the University of Chile. I think the study programme has a very complete academic curriculum compared with others in the area, however i suggest that some subjects should be redesigned, especially the subjects that have a health promotion approach. Also one of the biggest problems is the cost associated with materials, as students we need to buy many materials through the career and this increases the cost of the study programme.

The teaching method is quite good, but I think there are certain areas that should be reevaluated, for example, I think it is not best teaching way to fail a course because a patient stops attending or do not want to continue with the treatment.

Some faculty facilities that I consider that we do not have enough are the green areas and space in the dining room, you will always see people/students eating on the floor or on the stairs because there are not enough chairs or tables. Also they should improve the preclinical and clinical areas, i strongly recommended to fix some structural and tecnical problems. Another area that I suggest improving is the number of classrooms available, cause many times it is necessary to make a change in the schedule.

But anyways, the quality of teaching is high and very demanding, but new technologies must be implemented, despite everything, I like my career and the university because it will give me better tools for my future.
